Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
Airport Math (“Airport Math,” “we,” “us,” or “this site”) is a personal side project operated by Carolyn Donnelly. This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you visit airportmath.com, use the calculator, submit feedback, or follow links from the site.
Airport Math is free, does not require an account, and does not allow public comments.
Information We Collect
Calculator information
The calculator performs its calculations in your browser. Airport Math does not store your calculator entries on its own server.
When you complete a calculation, Google Analytics receives an
airport_calculation_complete event. That event currently
includes:
- The selected airport code
- Domestic or international flight type
- Selected boarding style
- Whether TSA PreCheck was selected
- Whether CLEAR was selected
- Whether checked bags were selected
- Whether parking or shuttle time was selected
- The entered drive time in minutes
We use this event to understand whether visitors use the calculator and which general planning options are commonly selected.
Website usage information
Google Analytics may process information about how you use the site, including:
- Pages viewed
- Approximate geographic area
- Browser and device type
- Operating system
- Referring website or traffic source
- Session timing and general interactions
- Calculator completion events
- Clicks on recommended external services
When you click a recommended external service, Google Analytics may receive the type of recommendation, destination name, and destination URL. This helps us understand whether those links are useful.
Google may receive an IP address as part of the technical request needed to provide Analytics. Airport Math does not receive or have access to individual visitor IP addresses through its Google Analytics reports.
Feedback submissions
Airport Math uses Formspree to process the “Report a Bug” and “Suggest a Feature” forms. These forms ask only for the message you choose to submit and whether it is a bug report or feature suggestion. They do not ask for your name, email address, or account information.
Formspree may automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, domain, access time, and referring website address. You can read the Formspree Privacy Policy for more information.
Emails
If you contact Airport Math by email, we receive your email address, message, and any other information you choose to include. We use that information to respond to your message and handle the request.
Hosting and security information
Airport Math is hosted through GoDaddy and uses WordPress. GoDaddy, WordPress-related services, security tools, and the hosting infrastructure may process technical logs such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, timestamps, and security events.
This information may be used to deliver the website, detect abuse, troubleshoot problems, and protect the site. You can read the GoDaddy Global Privacy Notice for more information.
How We Use Information
We use the information described in this policy to:
- Operate and secure Airport Math
- Understand how visitors find and use the site
- Measure whether visitors complete a calculation
- Improve the calculator and website content
- Understand whether recommended links are useful
- Review bug reports and feature suggestions
- Respond to emails and privacy requests
- Prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and security problems
- Meet applicable legal obligations
Cookies and Consent Choices
Airport Math uses cookies and similar technologies for necessary website functions, consent preferences, analytics, and third-party services.
The site uses Complianz to display a cookie banner and manage visitor choices. Depending on your location and selections, optional analytics or advertising technologies may be blocked unless you consent.
Necessary cookies
These support website security, hosting, WordPress functions, and remembering your cookie choices. They cannot always be disabled because the website may not work properly without them.
Preference cookies
These may remember choices that affect how the site works for you.
Analytics cookies
These help us understand website traffic and whether visitors use the calculator.
Advertising cookies
This category is included in preparation for possible future advertising. Airport Math is not currently displaying Google AdSense ads.
You can accept optional cookies, reject them, or choose individual settings through the cookie banner. You can change your selection later through the “Cookie settings” control on the website.
For a detailed and automatically updated list of detected cookies and services, see the Cookie Policy.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Airport Math is configured through Complianz to recognize Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals where supported and applicable. Browser support and the legal effect of these signals can vary.
Third-Party Services
Google Analytics
Airport Math uses Google Analytics 4 through Google Site Kit to understand traffic and website usage.
Google Analytics may use cookies and similar identifiers when permitted by your consent settings. Google processes Analytics information according to its own terms and privacy practices.
- Google Privacy Policy
- Google Analytics privacy and data safeguards
- Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
Rejecting analytics cookies through the Airport Math cookie banner may limit the Analytics information collected from your browser.
Google Fonts
The current version of Airport Math loads Plus Jakarta Sans and Fraunces through the Google Fonts service. When these font files are requested from Google, Google may receive technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, operating-system information, and referring page.
Google states that information collected through Google Fonts is not used to create advertising profiles. You can read the Google Fonts Privacy FAQ for more information.
Google Fonts may be controlled by the site’s cookie and script settings. Airport Math may replace externally hosted fonts with locally hosted copies in the future.
Complianz
Airport Math uses Complianz to provide its consent banner, remember cookie selections, manage optional scripts, and generate the site’s Cookie Policy.
Complianz may place necessary first-party cookies in your browser to remember your choices.
Recommended and External Links
Airport Math currently links to external services such as SpotHero, Hotels.com, and Kayak. At the time of this update, these are standard recommendation links, and Airport Math does not receive a commission when you use them.
If Airport Math begins using affiliate links, those links will be clearly disclosed at or near the recommendation. Airport Math may earn a commission from a qualifying purchase at no additional cost to the visitor.
Airport Math may record that a recommended link was clicked through Google Analytics. Once you leave Airport Math, the destination website may collect information, place cookies, or track your activity according to its own privacy policy. Airport Math does not control those external websites.
Planned Advertising
Airport Math may use Google AdSense in the future. If AdSense is activated, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, IP addresses, device identifiers, ad interactions, and similar technologies to:
- Deliver and measure advertisements
- Limit how often an advertisement appears
- Detect fraud and invalid traffic
- Provide personalized or non-personalized advertising
- Measure advertising performance
This advertising section will apply only after advertising code is activated. Airport Math will review this policy and its consent configuration when advertising begins.
Google requires publishers serving ads to visitors in certain locations to use an appropriate consent management platform. Airport Math will configure the required consent controls before serving applicable ads.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, Airport Math may rely on the following legal bases:
Consent
We rely on consent for optional analytics, advertising, and certain third-party technologies where consent is required. You may withdraw consent through the Cookie settings control.
Legitimate interests
We may process limited information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website, respond to feedback, prevent abuse, and understand general website performance.
Legal obligations
We may process or preserve information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable government requests.
Your request
When you send feedback or contact us, we process the information you provide to review and respond to that request.
Sharing, Transfers, and Retention
How information is shared
Airport Math may share or allow information to be processed by service providers only as reasonably necessary to operate the website. These providers currently include Google, Formspree, GoDaddy, and WordPress-related hosting or security services.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law or legal process
- Protect the rights, safety, and security of Airport Math or others
- Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Complete a website transfer, restructuring, or similar transaction
Airport Math does not sell lists of visitor information.
Airport Math does not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If personalized advertising is activated later, some advertising activity may be treated as “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a similar term under certain state privacy laws. Applicable consent and opt-out controls will be provided.
International data transfers
Airport Math is operated in the United States. Google, Formspree, GoDaddy, and other service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
Privacy laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live. Where required, service providers may use contractual or other approved safeguards for international transfers.
Data retention
Airport Math keeps information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to provider settings and legal requirements.
- Google Analytics retains user-level and event-level data according to the retention settings configured in the GA4 property and Google’s retention rules.
- Aggregated Analytics reports may be available for longer periods.
- Feedback messages may remain in Formspree until they are reviewed or deleted.
- Emails may be retained as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, or handle follow-up questions.
- Hosting and security logs are retained according to GoDaddy, WordPress-related service, and security settings.
- Cookie choices remain in your browser until the applicable cookie expires or is deleted.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have the right to:
- Request access to personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of information
- Request a portable copy of certain information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Opt out of targeted advertising or certain profiling
- Appeal the denial of a privacy request
- Submit a complaint to a privacy or data-protection authority
Airport Math does not discriminate against visitors for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Because Airport Math does not require accounts and does not collect names through the calculator, we may have limited ability to identify Analytics information associated with a particular person. We may ask for reasonable information to verify a privacy request without collecting more information than necessary.
California and other United States residents
Residents of California and certain other states may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws. These rights apply only when the relevant law applies to Airport Math and the particular processing activity.
Airport Math does not currently sell personal information or use personal information for targeted advertising. If that changes, this policy and the site’s opt-out controls will be updated.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
Where European or UK privacy law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, as well as the right to data portability and withdrawal of consent.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You may also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority where you live.
Children, Security, and External Websites
Children’s privacy
Airport Math is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the site, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Security
Airport Math uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the website and information processed through it. No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
External websites
This privacy policy applies only to Airport Math. Links to airlines, airports, travel services, official sources, affiliate partners, or other external websites are governed by those websites’ own privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy when the website, calculator, service providers, advertising setup, or legal requirements change.
The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or consent banner where appropriate.
